VISTA THERAPEUTICS PROTOTYPE IS UP AND RUNNING!

Vista Therapeutics, in collaboration with its manufacturing partner MesoSystems/ICX (the world’s largest design-engineering-manufacturer of continuous monitoring devices for weapons and bio-terror agents), has manufactured dand is currently (Nov 2009) testing a fully functional NanoBioSensor™ prototype. (Naturally, Vista's other main partners, including Harvard University, are cooperating in this effort.)

A schematic of how the prototype system works is shown below. Basically, a nanowire chip (multiple nanowires in a small encasement) incorporated in a monitoring chassis and connected to a fluidics input source registers changes in multiple biomarkers within the fluid. A computer is wired to this NanoBioSensor reader instrument (shown bottom left in the figure) for data recording, analysis, and prediction.

The photos below show an actual working nanowire "card" (essentially a "chip" enclosure) on the left, and the actual working prototype reader on the right.

Thus, the status of prototype product development (Nov 2009) is:

• A "NanoSampler" Plasma Prep Kit (for rapid and frequent sampling) is DONE.
• A NanoBioSensor reader unit, plus software for reading and analyzing data, is DONE.

• Functionalized nanowires placed on NanoBioCards have been tested with PSA (and Cytokiness are next).

The first products to be launched will include:

Sample Preparation Kit (‘NanoBioSampler’) for rapid preparation of blood plasma sample
NanoBioCards with probes for inflammation
NanoBioSensor Instrument and software
Initial sensor will support up to 32 channels simultaneously
